X-ELIO, a global leader in the renewable energy sector, has announced the sale of a 50 MW solar PV plant in Sicily to PLT Energia, one of the largest independent Italian groups active in the wind and photovoltaic energy sector.

Castelvetrano, estimated to generate 92 GWh of clean energy annually, supports Italy’s decarbonization targets with sustainable, reliable, and cost-competitive power.

This agreement reinforces the strategies of X-ELIO and PLT Energia to strengthen their positions in one of Europe’s most relevant energy markets.

Stefano Marulli, CEO of PLT energia, commented: "This transaction represents a further step in PLT Energia's growth strategy, aimed at consolidating an integrated platform in the renewable energy market on a national scale".

This way, X-ELIO consolidates its presence in Italy, where it has already brought 146 MW of solar capacity into operation and is currently building a total of 116 MW, which are expected to enter operation within the next twelve months. In addition, the company manages a pipeline of 1.1 GW in solar projects and 1.8 GW in energy storage systems (BESS) at various stages of development.

PLT energia, by the end of 2025, will reach an installed capacity of 365 MW, complemented by an additional 110 MW currently in an advanced stage of construction. Furthermore, there is a development pipeline of approximately 3.4 GW, of which 600 MW have already received authorization.

This milestone opens the door to new transactions between the two companies.
