Senvion, one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers, and PLT engineering, company controlled by PLT energia Spa Group have concluded a contract for the delivery and installation of 16 wind turbines with a total rated power of 32.8 megawatts (MW) in Calabria.
16 Senvion MM92 turbines will be installed in the wind farm of Simeri Crichi, located in the region of Calabria. Each turbine has a rated power of 2.05 MW and a hub height of 100 metres. It is the second order with PLT engineering. The first project of Senvion with PLT engineering, Torre di Ruggiero, is constituted of 5 Senvion MM82 turbines and has just been commissioned one month ahead of schedule.
Carlo Schiapparelli, Managing Director of Senvion South East Europe, says: “For Senvion, this order represents an important milestone for two reasons: we have been confirmed as a supplier by a company that has significant investment plans for the future and it allows us to strengthen our service center in the region of Calabria, where we will achieve a total installed capacity of more than 100 MW.”
Stefano Marulli, Managing Director of PLT energia and CEO of PLT engineering, adds: “PLT energia works towards a sustainable energy development. With Senvion on our side, we have a reliable partner to implement our projects with state of the art technology and high quality products to reach our common goal: to supply Italians with energy in harmony with the environment.” Together, the 16 turbines will supply 40,000 households with energy and save 27,000 tonnes of CO2 every year.
The Senvion MM92 is the most demanded turbine type in Italy. Including the turbines at Simeri, wind energy turbines of this type will reach an overall installed capacity of over 500 MW. In all Italy, Senvion has installed 371 wind turbines of different types that best suit the local circumstances
